Born of the original 1846 Diocese of Walla Walla, St. Patrick Parish is a culturally diverse community of Roman Catholics who, in cooperation with other Christians in the Walla Walla Valley, strive to worship God, foster spiritual growth among its members, and serve others according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
On August 17, 1953, Bishop Charles D. White established the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Walla Walla. All of the area east of Division Street is included in the Parish. The grade school was established in 1955; the church dates to 1967. A communal garden provides food for local food banks and for parishioners and school classes
Originally founded in 1915 as a spiritual home for Italian immigrants, St. Francis Parish is a community of Roman Catholics who draw strength and vision from the Gospel and participation in the sacramental life of the Church, inspired by their patron saint’s spirit of humility and simplicity to strive to be instruments of God’s peace and reconciliation by serving those in need in the Walla Walla Valley.
