The Early Learning Center at Assumption provides many different programs to fit the needs of your child. We provide a well-balanced curriculum in a safe Christian environment that promotes growth and development of each individual child to meet his or her physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs. The uniqueness of each child inspires our work.
When children feel needed and supported, they feel secure. Secure children experience the most successful learning. Children’s early learning experiences pave the way for future success, and the Early Learning Center at Assumption provides a solid foundation for education within the Walla Walla Catholic Schools.
Each child develops at a different pace, that is why we have chosen to have smaller enrollment for our preschool classes. This way each child will feel safe while they explore the world around them. It gives way to each child finding a spot and a voice within the classroom setting. As your child grows and becomes confident in this, they will move to more of a readiness program. This program will prepare them for success in the Kindergarten class. We work with each family to make that transition as smooth as possible.
The best part of our work is including Jesus in the classroom. We foster a love for Jesus, model loving behaviors and practice forgiveness. These are all great seeds, that when planted and watered will yield great fruit. Learn more by clicking on one of your ELC programs below.

Pre-K
Our Pre-K program is a readiness program for 4 and 5 year olds. This program is more structured than our other early learning environments. It provides all the necessary environmental components for each child to develop at their own pace yet encourages the growth that is needed to experience success in Kindergarten.

Pre-K Jr.
For our younger preschoolers, we offer Pre-K Jr. This program is for children not quite ready for the structure and readiness that Pre-K offers but focuses on learning basic skills of listening, speaking, learning rhymes, learning finger plays and communicating in both Spanish and English. We also focus on honing the student’s fine motor skills with name writing, cutting, crafts, etc.

Preschool
This program is for the littlest preschooler. This class caters to the early learner in that we are inspired by their movement and interests. Each child is welcome and allowed to broaden their world in a safe manner. We realize that the transition for this age is much harder. It is a small class therefore the child's needs are recognized and met.

Childcare
Our childcare program is open all year round. At the ELC we take our job as an extension of your love and warmth very seriously. Your child will be made part of our ELC family. The Early Learning Center at Assumption is licensed to serve children 30 months through 11 years of age. The ELC cannot accept children under the age of 2.5 years (30 months) who are not potty-trained. Details on all ELC policies are in located in the Parent Handbook.

Before & After School Program
Our Before & After School Program serves the Assumption Grade school. We serve other school aged children but do not provide transportation. This program is held at the ELC and runs on the school schedule.
